Joann M. Thompson

Joann M. Thompson of Caro, age 84, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Joann was born July 16, 1938 on her family's farm in Wisner Township, the daughter of the late Charles & Margaret (Beach) Schulte. She graduated from Akron-Fairgrove High School with the class of 1956 and was united in marriage that same month with Richard "Herbert" Thompson. Herb preceded Joann in death on January 14, 2006. Joann's abiding faith in the Lord led her to teach catechism at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro for many years, and she always looked forward to Friday bible studies at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community. Spare time was often spent playing Bingo, Yahtzee, or on the water during the summer months. More than anything, she was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Left to cherish Joann's memory are four children and their spouses, Randy & Linda Thompson of Essexville, Sharon & Kim Ball of Caro, Linda & Tom DeGrow of Traverse City, Rick & Dianna Thompson of Bad Axe; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister and her husband, Patricia & Pat Graves of Merrill; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Joann was preceded in death by one grandson, Steven Ball in 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Dave Wilczynski officiating. Burial will follow later in the day at the Juniata Township Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Forget-Me-Nots of the Tuscola County Medical Care Community.
