Joanne Galgoci, age 62 years, of Hunt Road, Mayville, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2005, at her home surrounded by her family and close friends. Our beloved Punky lost her year long battle with leukemia. The former Joanne Ellen Hoose was born December 6, 1942, to the late Harold L. and Evelyn A. (Woods) Hoose in Pontiac, Michigan. She was a 1961 graduate of Mayville High School, growing up on Cat Lake. Punky married Joseph S. Galgoci on August 17, 1963, and shared forty-two happy years on their Hunt Road farm where they raised their three children. She worked at Caro Community Hospital as a ward clerk and nurses aide for the past thirty-three years. She had a special place in her heart for all of her friends, especially Kathy Irvine and Nancy Howey, who shared her love for bingo and “golf.” Punky was an aspiring artist, a collector of teapots, an avid “golfer” who loved spending time with her family and friends. Her beloved dog, Tinker, and late pets Sugar and Boots comforted her life. She was beautiful, strong and a fighter. God has truly blessed us with her love and teachings. Joanne is survived by her husband, Joseph; her three children; DeChantel Slater of Kalkaska, Helen (Gary) Crawford of Kalkaska, Mike (Susan) Galgoci of Mayville; her grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Janelle Slater, Jake and Luke Crawford, Elizabeth, Eli, Emma and Ethan Galgoci.
