JoAnne Marie Nusz

JoAnne Marie Nusz of Unionville, age 82, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. JoAnne was born on October 19, 1943, in Melvin, the daughter of the late Everette and Eva Owens. She attended Caro High School and graduated with the Class of 1961. Later that same year, JoAnne married Dale Nusz on October 28th, and the couple cherished nearly fifty-seven years of marriage before Dale’s passing in 2018. JoAnne was employed as a clerk at Walmart for over twenty years and retired following a long and dedicated career. She enjoyed traveling on cruises, taking Harley rides, and spending treasured time with her grandchildren, who brought her great joy.

Left to cherish JoAnne’s memory are six crazy, loving children, Terry & Karen Nusz of Titusville, Florida, Trent & Janelle Nusz of Clarksville, Tennessee, Todd & Cindy Nusz of Unionville, Troy & Andrea Nusz of Japan, Tracy & Teri Nusz of Akron, and Tammi Nusz-Scranton & Mark Scranton of Deltona, Florida; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Owens of New Smyrna, Florida and Jay & Diane Owens of Freeland; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, JoAnne was preceded in death by a son, Tim Nusz; and a grandson, Nicholas.

In keeping with JoAnne’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a spring burial is being planned in Carsonville. Service details will be announced as information becomes available. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
