Jody Shawn Beachy, age 38 of Pigeon/Caseville, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and good friend went to be with her Lord and Savior after a diligent battle with a short term illness at 7:26 PM, Thursday, March 8, at the University of Michigan Hospital with her family and friends at her side. She was born August 26, 1973 to Eldon and Joanne (Caister) Beachy at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Jody was a beloved friend to many and a loyal Detroit Tiger fan. She can be remembered for her remarkable strength and talent on and off the golf course. She enjoyed the outdoors; hunting and fishing, and just having the breeze blow through her hair. Her family and friends were her life. Jody’s spirit runs strong through all whose lives she touched with her dimpled smile and incredible laugh. Jody, our little dare-devil, we will miss you.
She was a 1991 graduate of Laker High School. In 1990, the Beachy family purchased Lefty’s Drive-In in Bay Port, Michigan. This was the beginning of Jody’s heart and soul of Lefty’s Incorporated. In 1998, Jody and her father, Eldon Beachy, created Lefty’s Diner and Drive-in in Caseville. Jody’s hand in this creation was partially the Left, however, mostly the “Right” She will be well remembered serving it up, in her white apron, for all her loyal friends and customers whom sparked her flame to succeed at her “Okie Dokie” Diner. Through 22 years of culinary experience, she was greatly appreciated by many. Her achievement of several winning Cheeseburger competitions was a shining glory to her blessed success.
Jody was a loving daughter to Eldon and Joanne Beachy, wonderful sister to Brenda Kosenko and friend Mike, Michael Beachy, Murray (Robin) Beachy, Tim Beachy, and Bethanne Bowles; amazing aunt to Brody, Bailee, Benjamin, and Brooklyn Beachy, Brandon Fabyan, Seth, Garet, Westin, and Kyle Bowles, Dwight Kosenko, and Nicole (John) Stelmach. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Benjamin and Sadie (Ropp) Beachy, Wilford and Mary (Schweitzer) Caister and brother-in-law Glenn Kosenko. Funeral services to be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 14, at Michigan Avenue Mennonite Church, Pigeon with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton on Monday and Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and at the church after 10:00 AM Wednesday.
