John Baranski

John Bernard Baranski, age 89, of North Carolina, formerly of Caro, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Mountain Trace Nursing Facility in Webster, North Carolina. He was born on September 4, 1920 in Caro, Michigan to the late William Bernard and Antoinette (Potrzuski) Baranski. John Baranski married the former Edith Kern on October 26, 1944 at Maxwell Field in Montgomery, Alabama. She preceded him in death on June 5, 2002. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. Mr. Baranski retired from General Motors in 1986 after 40 years of employment. He is survived by three children, Darwin (Lynette) Baranski of Saginaw, Larry (Susan) Baranski of Caro and Sheri Baranski of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Brant Baranski, Lisa (David) Muz, Becki Jo Baranski, Ryan (Rebecca) Baranski, Claire Baranski, Kyle Baranski and Mackenzie Baranski; seven great-grandchildren, David and Lily Muz, Abigail, Isaac, Isabel, Amelia and Jonnee Baranski; two brothers, Frank (Joanne) and William Baranski; several nieces and nephews; his special friends, Chris and Mike Naylor, Raydean Barriager and family, Jason and Tina Bruce and Reni Benkert; and his ever faithful dogs, Shuggy and Karlie. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Rodney P. Baranski in 1993; one granddaughter, Robin M. Baranski in 1978; and one grandson, Jonathan B. Baranski in 2007. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be afforded by the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164 and the United States Army. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to charity of the donors choice.
