John C. Moore, age 85, of Millington, formerly of Elkton, passed away, Tuesday afternoon, August 14, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro.
He was born May 25, 1922, in Greenleaf Twp, near Cass City to the late Claude and Edna (Wurtz) Moore. John served in the US Army during WW II. On April 24, 1943, he was united in marriage to Genevieve A. Sturm at the Owendale Methodist parsonage and lived in Elkton most of their married life. In 1947, he began hauling milk from area farmers, first in cans and later bulk. When he retired in 1981, he took up golf and became a member of the Century Oaks Golf Club, Elkton. He and Genevieve spent several years visiting their sons, wintering in Florida and traveling with the Good Sams Club in their motor home.
In 2002, they moved to Vassar and attended the Millington United Methodist Church.
He is missed and survived by his wife, Genevieve; two sons, Dennis (Gail) Moore of Simpsonville, SC and Kenneth (Bonnie) Moore of Millington; a wonderful grandfather to Carey Moore (John) Goldsworthy, Robert (Cassandra) Moore, Kytt Moore and Michael Moore. He also leaves three great grandchildren, Sydney, Jackson and Brady Goldsworthy; two sisters, Lila Heck and Marie Buschlen both of Pigeon. Preceding him in death was a sister, Helen Delsi.
A celebration of his life will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, August 17, at the champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Pete Crawford, pastor of the Millington United Methodist Church will officiate with burial in Grandlawn Cemetery, Pigeon.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Friday.
Memorials may be given to his church or the charity of your choice.
