John Morris, age 91 years, of East Dayton Road in Caro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2005, at his home with his family at his side. He was born on March 10, 1914, in Hayward, Wisconsin, the son of the late William (Frank) and Eva Morris. He married the former Eleanor Gilbert on August 19, 1943, in Berkley, Michigan. Surviving along with Eleanor, his wife of 62 years, are his children, Pat (Fred) Whiting of Naples, Florida, Donald Morris of Naples, Florida, Janet (David) Thomas of Clare, Ronald (Sharon) Morris of Auburn Hills and Cheryl Morris of Caro. He is also survived by several grand- and great-grand-children, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings, Myrtle Erickson, Gladys Hanson, Neil Morris and Deliah Loucka. John worked for AC Sparkplug in Flint for a time, and was a heavy equipment operator, welder, mechanic, and over-the-road broker for Darling Freight. He retired from the City of Pontiac in 1976 and moved to Caro where he raised horses and cows as a hobby farmer. He was a longtime hunter and passed his skills down to his sons. John was a member of the Caro Moose Lodge #1049, the Caro Eagles Aerie #3857, and the National Rifle Association. The funeral service will be held: AT: Collon Funeral Home in Caro ON: Thursday, October 6, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. WITH: Rev. Duane Miller, Caro United Methodist Church, Officiating Cremation has taken place: AT: Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan There will be no visitation prior to the 11:00 a.m. service on Thursday at tbe funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Morris family discretionary fund, c/o Eleanor Morris.
