John Douglas Morrison, age 51, of Caseville, died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Brian’s House in Bay City.
John was born May 21, 1958 in Dearborn to Olga (nee Szczerbacki) and the late Charles Richard Morrison. He grew up in Redford and was an altar server at St. Hilary Catholic Church. He graduated from Thurston High School in 1976. He served in the US Navy from 1977 to 1980, having been stationed aboard the USS Pyro. He worked as a boiler room technician at the Caro State Hospital. On February 7, 2001 he married Joan Lord in Toledo, Ohio. They continued to live in Caseville.
John’s favorite place to visit was Disneyworld, and he loved all things Disney. He enjoyed canoeing, music, animals and most of all, spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife Joan; step-children Lori Adams of St. Ignace, Jason Lord of Pigeon, Brian Lord of Lincoln Park and Jennifer (Thomas) Miracle of Kentucky; grandchildren Amber, Dillan, Kylee, Lyla, Lyle, David, Natalie, Nic, Crystal, Brent, Brenden, Tristen and Courtney; his mother, Olga Morrison of Hadley; siblings Donna (Ralph) Burley, Dwayne (Barbara) Morrison, Cheryl (Al) Bingham, Kenneth Morrison, Sandra Morrison, Michele (David) Szalay, Marc (Connie) Morrison, and George Morrison; and mother-in-law Betty Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles and brother Richard.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00 am Thursday, November 19th at St. Roch Catholic Church with Fr. John Wies presiding. Military honors will be presented by the Caseville American Legion.
Visitation will be 2:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and one hour prior to the mass on Thursday at church.
Memorials may be made to the Pigeon District Library or the Caseville Education Association Scholarship Fund.
