John R. Parsons

John R. Parsons of Caro, age 86, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw. John was born on September 8, 1926 in Caro, the son of the late John and Bernice (Balch) Parsons. He was a 1944 graduate of Caro High School, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines and Japan. On May 27, 1950 he was united in marriage with Doris TerBush of Mayville in Caro. He had a twenty-seven year career with Sprint Telecommunications where he worked as an engineer and in supervision. He was a member of the Lansing American Legion Post #0225 and attended the Pentecostal Temple in Midland. John loved restoring cars, hunting, reading and sports, especially the Detroit Tigers. John is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Doris; two sons, Bradford Parsons of Caro and Pastor Michael Parsons and his wife, Dianne, of Midland; three grandchildren, Ann Rochelle (Butch) Westover, Adam Parsons and John Parsons; four great-grandchildren, Haley Westover, Justin Westover, Hunter Holly and John Crawford Holly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Ramona Parsons; and two sisters, Phyllis Walsh and Evelyn Anthony. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with his son, Pastor Michael Parsons, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery with military honors provided by Caro V.F.W. Post #4164.
