John R. Prikopa

John R. Prikopa, age 84, of Pigeon, formerly of Sebewaing, passed away Monday morning, October 3, 2016, at Rose Garden Senior Living.

John was born January 15, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Ladimer and Margaret Prikopa. After high school graduation he entered the US Air Force. He then married Carol Ianella on July 29, 1956 at St. Paul of the Cross in Park Ridge, IL. He fell in love with her at first sight, stating "She was the girl of my dreams". After marriage and starting a family he graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He worked as a self-employed accountant and worked for many firms throughout his career.

John is survived by his children: Cheryl A. (Gregory) Kleen and Charles (Jennifer) Prikopa; two sisters: Shirley (Bud) Miller and Betty (Gary) Phillips; grandchildren: Jessica Mae (Timothy) Sova, Monica Rose Schuette, Charles Prikopa, II, and Lindsey Prikopa; great grandchildren: Teagan Marie Sherer and Caleb Sova.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Prikopa; and two sisters: Judy Prikopa and Babe Prikopa.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 12:30pm-1:30pm.

A burial service will take place immediately following the visitation at New Bay Port Cemetery.
