John C. Richmond Sr.

John C. Richmond age 80, long time McKinley Twp. dairy farmer died Thursday morning, July 19, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe with his family by his side.
He was born August 27, 1926 in McKinley Township, at the home of his parents, the late Ralph and Amelia (Schubach) Richmond Sr. John graduated from Pigeon High School in 1945 and lived on the family farm all his life.
On February 14, 1948, he was united in marriage to Evelyn J. Krohn at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elkton. For years he and Evelyn managed the John C. Richmond & Sons Dairy Farm in McKinley Twp. until he was forced to retire for health reasons.
He was a member of St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Berne, a member of the Michigan Dairy Assn and a past member of the Lucky 50 Farm Bureau Group. John enjoyed playing all kinds of sports including football, basketball and baseball, he also enjoyed watching them at the high school and on TV. For years, he loved milking cows, cutting alfalfa and combining grain, corn and beans. He dearly loved his wife, of almost sixty years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; six children, Gary (Karren) Richmond Sr. of Clarkston, Sharon (Terry) Henne of Richville, John (Eleanor) Richmond, Jr., of Filion, Karen (Glenn) Phillips of Kinde, James Richmond Sr. of Bay Port and Keith (Nichole) Richmond of Pigeon; 21 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Fred Sr., Ralph and Bruce Richmond.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday, July 23, at John Ev. Lutheran Church, Berne. Rev. James Gorsengner, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 1 to 9 PM Sunday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and at the church after 11:30 AM Monday.
Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church or School.
