John F. Sigmund, age 69, left on his final adventure Wednesday morning, July 29, 2015, in Ann Arbor.
John was born October 11, 1945, to John and Hilda (Gotham) Sigmund. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1964-1967 when he was honorably discharged as an E5. He married Brenda Gayari on October 16, 1966. He owned and operated several businesses in Sebewaing, such as John's Gun Shop, Variety Vending, The Snack Shack and Radio Shack. The family businesses of Venture Tool & Metalizing and Movin-On Up Tree & Aerial Services continue on. He was active in the community as a member of the Jaycees and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sebewaing American Legion Post #293. John was a journeyman tool and die maker, skilled jack of all trades and a talented woodworker. He was a naturally talented musician, loved the outdoors, the color purple, nature, animals and family. He passed these passions on to his sons and grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife, Brenda Sigmund; children: Jeffery Sigmund and John (Michele) Sigmund, II; sister, Margaret Mihacsi; grandchildren: Shonna Elliott, Rachel Sigmund, Kenna Sigmund, Joseph Sigmund, Samantha (James) Rabun and Jessie Martinez,; 8 great grandchildren; 7 dogs, numerous cats and many cherished friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents: John and Hilda Sigmund; sister, Patricia Nitz; and brother, Dale Sigmund.
A celebration of his life will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Visitation will begin at the church at 6:30PM until the time of Mass at 7:00PM.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sebewaing American Legion or the Knights of Columbus.
