John Stapleton

John (Jack) Stapleton, age 92, of Caro, was born on October 29, 1914 in Preston, Ontario, Canada; coming to Tuscola County early in life, first to Gagetown and then to Caro. Jack died on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. He attended Caro High School and then joined the U.S. Army and Air Corp during WWII as an instructor. Jack worked in Parts at both Beith Implement and Striffler. He was an extremely personable man with a quick wit and easy demeanor which led to his becoming a very successful automobile salesman. Jack worked in automotive sales from 1950 until 1992 at Wilsie-Kelly Chevrolet, Cadillac and Oldsmobile and, until his retirement, at Howard Bell Buick and Pontiac. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a fifty year member of the Knights of Columbus #3224, a sixty year member and past commander of the Theron W. Atwood, Sr. American Legion Post #7, and a past member of many automotive sales clubs. He is survived by his siblings, Raymond (Jarry) Stapleton of Ocala, Florida and Pat (Carol) Stapleton of Caro, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the remainder of his siblings, James Stapleton, Rosellen Stapleton, Marguerite Simerson, Genevieve Kothe and Veronica Humes. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Vigil for the Deceased will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. under the auspices of the Caro Knights of Columbus. Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Caro. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
