John G. VanValkenburgh, age 34, of Chandler Twp., died Saturday evening, November 8, near his home from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
He was born March 22, 1969 to the late Jack and Evelyn (Perkins) Morin in Pigeon.
John graduated from Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port High School in 1988. A short time later he moved to Texas where he worked in construction. In 1998, he moved back to the Pinnebog area and was currently employed by Thompson Builders in Sandusky.
He enjoyed the out of doors especially deer hunting, he was also an avid pool player. John was charismatic and enjoyed the company of his friends and especially his family.
Surviving are his fiancée, Gena Leitch of Chandler Twp.; his daughter, Bailey; eight brothers, Robert of Pinnebog, Randy (Lori) of Port Austin, Tom (Carol) of Decatour, TX, Ray (Dawn) of Elkton, Doug of Filion, Steve of Pinnebog, Mike (Tammy) of Deckerville and Jim of Pinnebog; six sisters, Judy (Lewis) Bannister of Snover, Bobbie (Skip) Churchhill of Cass City, Laura (Jim) Stauffer of Pinnebog, Linda (Ken) Wood of Pigeon, Chris (Marv) Swartzendruber of Pigeon, and Kathy (Mike) Birchfield of Elkton; two step brothers Jim of CA, and Ervin (Barb) of Howell .
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Bill and Rick.
Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 12, at Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton. Rev. DeWeerd Smith will officiate with burial in Chandler Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call at Champagne Funeral Chapel Elkton, from 7-9 Monday, 2-9 Tuesday, and at the church after 10:00 AM on Wednesday.
