John Kenneth "Pops" Wittstock

Sometime late Thursday, October 8th Pops Wittstock entered into the presence of his Savior and was reunited with his wife whom he missed dearly these last 17 years. Pops was born March 8, 1937 in Detroit to the late John and Clara (Antoszewski) Wittstock. The oldest of four children, he graduated from Clawson High School in 1955 where he was on the varsity track team. He was employed by Paramount Tool and Die after high school and sang in a band called “The Impalas” with some friends. He married Diane Root at St. Veronica Church in East Detroit on February 6, 1960. Not long after, he was hired in the engineering department of General Motors Truck and Coach from which he retired in 1999. John and Diane started their family in Clawson, and then built a home together in Holly where they retired. The love of his life, Diane preceded him in death in 2003. They were both active in the ministries of First Baptist Church of Sterling Heights and Rochester Hills Baptist Church. Pops moved to Caseville in 2017 and joined the Calvary Baptist Church of Caseville where he will be missed.

He is survived by his children Kenneth of St. Clair Shores, Charisse (Mike) Goforth of Caseville and Matthew (Sara Buscher) of Royal Oak; grandchildren Jessica (Joey) Sancrant, Andrea (Mike) Francavilla, Michael (Shannon) Goforth, Kathryn (Josh) Slaughter, all of Caseville and Olivia and Max Wittstock of Fraser; great-grandchildren Ellie, Ethan, Clara, Gabriel and Caleb; brother Dennis and sister Eleanor of Sterling Heights; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws, and many friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister Celine Brody.

A memorial service will be 12:30pm Saturday, October 17th at Calvary Baptist Church of Caseville with Pastor Mike Goforth officiating, followed by a luncheon. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church of Caseville.
