Joseph John Burzynski Jr., 96, of Caseville, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024 at McLaren Thumb Region Hospital in Bad Axe.
Joe was born May 30, 1927 in Detroit to the late Joseph and Mary (Gliniecki) Burzynski. In 1945 he graduated from Cass Tech High School in Detroit. He served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II with the Sea Bee’s. He married Eleanor Welker on June 18, 1949 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Detroit; she preceded him in death May 18, 2014.
He retired in 1984 from Michigan Bell/AT&T after 37 years of employment. In 1992 he moved from Warren to Caseville. He was a member of the Caseville Eagles where he volunteered with BINGO and Adopt-a-Highway, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Pigeon VFW and the Caseville American Legion Honor Guard.
Joe is survived by his children Bill and Linda Cork, both of LaGrange, Indiana; son-in-law Stephen Landrum and daughter-in-law Audrey; grandchildren Christopher Landrum, Joe Burzynski, and Kara (Justin) Concepcion; great-grandchildren Jacob, Austin, Mitchell, and Leo. He was preceded in death by his children Thomas and Maureen Landrum, son-in-law Jami Cork and brother Donald.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00am Wednesday, February 28th at St. Roch Catholic Church. Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6pm Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel.
