Joseph Daniel Guigar

Joseph D. Guigar, 85, of Caseville, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024 at home under hospice care surrounded by family.

Joe was born September 27, 1938 in Bad Axe to the late Daniel and Sabina (Dyblias) Guigar.  He graduated in 1957 from Bad Axe High School.  On September 16, 1961 he married Diane Kipfer at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville.

Joe retired in 2006 from Active/Tower Automotive in Elkton.  In retirement he worked at St. Roch Catholic Church as a handyman.  He was a member of our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish and the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, gardening, woodworking, Tigers Baseball and time spent with his family and grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his wife Diane; children Lisa (Dale) Volz of Sebewaing, Debbie (Kelly) Pierce of Pigeon, Bob (Terisa) of Pigeon, Dave (Billie Joe Grannell) of Caseville, Steve (Jill) of Snover, Jim (Teri Kopasz) of Caseville, Melissa (Jeff) McKnight of Memphis, Daniel (Tanisha Peyerk) of Elkton and Jessica (Bryant) Ross of Elkton; 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brothers John (Rita) of Bad Axe, Richard (Diane) of Bad Axe and Elmer (Pat) of Bad Axe; sisters Kathleen (Ralph) Behnke of Harbor Beach, Anna Laming of Ubly, and Sabina (Bud) Leigh of Florida.  He was preceded in death by his brother Daniel (Beatie) and brother-in-law Lou Laming.

A funeral mass will be 10:00am Saturday, February 3rd at St. Roch Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Pare presiding.  Burial will be in St. Roch Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-8 Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon with a 5PM Friday Rosary.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish or A & D Hospice.
