Joseph A. Habdas, age 88, passed away Monday, March 20, 2006 at St. Marys of Michigan Hospital in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. He was born February 7, 1918 in Caro, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Wolny) Habdas, and was a lifelong Caro resident. He was united in marriage to Helen C. Horbal in 1937 in Caro. Helen preceded him in death on April 19, 1994. Joseph was employed at Means Stamping in Saginaw, and retired in 1980. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Caro Knights of Columbus #3224, and the Polish American Club in Caro. Joseph was an avid golfer, loved playing cards, dancing, traveling, and picking mushrooms. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, pheasant and rabbit hunting and bowling. Joseph is survived by two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Joe and Connie Habdas, Jr. of Caro, Tom and Linda Habdas of Mayville, Mary Lou and Sam Earl of Caro; five grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa & Matt Smale of Grand Blanc, Ken & Kathy Earl of Caro, Brian & Lisa Earl of Woodhaven, Lisa & Scott Wilmot of Mayville, and Darren Mathews of Fostoria; ten great-grandchildren, Zachary and Claudia Smale, Trammell and Whitaker Earl, Nicole and Jacob Earl, Dustin and Leigha Wilmot, Justin and Dillon Mathews; two sisters, Angeline and Frances Giza, many nieces, nephews and a special friend, Helen Kulpeksza. In addition to his wife, Joseph was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, Walter, Leopold, and Leo Habdas, Anna Enlund, Stella McDonald, and Bertha Randall.
