Joseph Dale King 81, of Kinde died peacefully in his home, Wednesday, October 14, 2015 with loved ones by his side.
He was born December 18, 1933 in Lake Township to the late Lewis and Edna (Musselman) King. He was a 1952 Elkton High School graduate and a veteran of the US Air Force for 4 years. On January 24, 1959 he married Vernetta Gosselin at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Detroit.
He worked for Unisys (formerly Burroughs) Corp. in Detroit, Chicago & South Bend retiring as a Field Service Manager (of mainframe computers) after more than 30 years. Dale was an avid craftsman. He loved working with wood and created countless family treasures. He was a member of the Port Austin American Legion #499 and an officer of the Caseville Eagles FOE #3690.
He is survived by his wife Vernetta; children Elizabeth (Gary) Faher of Sodus, Philip (Sherry), Kenneth (Carolyn), JoAnn (Tom) Pressey and John (Michelle) all of Buchanan; grandchildren Kelly, Matthew, Nathan, Robert, Miranda, Kyle, Ryan, Lauren, Sarah, Travis, Nicole and Renae; thirteen great grandchildren; and his sister Nancy Brown of Kinde. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lloyd, Raymond and William; and sisters Alice Knaus, Shirley Carroll and Joyce Polk.
A memorial mass will be at 11:00am Saturday, October 17 at St. Roch Catholic Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 6253 Main Street, Caseville, with Rev. Father Robert Pare presiding.
Visitation will be 2-8pm Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. There will be an Eagles Ritual at 5PM Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
