Joseph D. Pawlak

February 26, 1942 — January 29, 2012

Joseph D. Pawlak age 69, of Grant Twp. near Elkton died Sunday evening, January 29, from injuries received in an auto accident on Friday.

He was born February 26, 1942, in Detroit to the late Martin and Dorothy (Pawloski) Pawlak and moved to Huron County near Parisville when he was a baby. When Joe was about 8 years old the family moved to the farm on S. Elkton Rd.
He attended school at St Mary’s Parisville and then after they moved, St. Agatha’s Catholic School, Gagetown. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1959.
After high school he worked at the Grassmere Elevator. On August 17, 1963, he was united in marriage to Shirley A. Jaworski at St Columbkille Catholic Church and they raised their family in Grant Twp.

When Grassmere was absorbed by the Elkton Coop Farm Produce, he went with them at drove fuel truck for several years and later went to the feed mill. He retired from the now Cooperative Elevator Company for health reasons in 2003.
Joe was a lifelong member of St. Agatha Catholic Church, Gagetown. He enjoyed reading, doing number and crossword puzzles, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley; three children, Jeff (Sue) Pawlak of Bad Axe, Mike Pawlak of Shelby Twp. and Tammy (Anthony) Wolschlager of Grant Twp. and five grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, Jacob, Andriana and Brandon.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, February 3, at St. Agatha Catholic Church, Gagetown. Rev. Fr. Paul Pala, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
There will be a parish scripture service lead by Sr. Dorothy Ann at 6:30 PM Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton where friends may call at from 2 to 8 PM Thursday and at the church after 10 AM Friday.
