Joseph Szerda

Joseph slipped the surly bonds of earth on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. He was born on February 24, 1911 in South Bend, Indiana. Joseph served in the U.S. Army during WWII as an ambulance driver in the Philippines and New Hebrides. Joseph was predeceased by his mother, Katalin, and father, Joseph; two sisters, Mary Szaki and Rosie (Szaki) Ando. He is survived by seven sisters, Gazella (Szaki) Muska, Julia (Szaki) Muska, Irene (Szaki) Vaughan all of Caro, Elizabeth (Szaki) Kovacs of Frankenmuth, Katie (Szaki) Kosto of Mesa, Arizona, Helen (Szaki) Koprince of Clawson and Theresa (Szaki) Weinlander of Shelby Township; twenty-seven nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand, First Baptist Church of Caro, officiating. Final resting place will be the Almer Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Smile Train, 245 Fifth Ave., Suite 2201, New York, NY 10016 or Southern Care Hospice, 6272 State St., Saginaw, MI 48603.
