Joseph Albert Trailer, age 83, of Caseville, died September 11, 2007 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon from a sudden aortic aneurysm.
Joe was born September 16, 1923 in Piggott, Arkansas to the late Albert and Cora (Montgomery) Trailer. He moved to Detroit in 1940 for employment. Joe served in the US Army during World War II in the European Theater working in General Eisenhower’s honor guard.
On July 3, 1943 Joe married Helen Still of Southfield in Detroit. For many years Joe drove as an independent truck driver for Rite-Way Trucking. In 1971 he opened Seaman Industry in Roseville, retiring in 1989. Having had a cottage in Caseville since 1965, Joe and Helen moved there permanently in 1988. He was a member and avid golfer at Scenic Golf and Country Club. He had enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, and spending winters in Florida.
He is survived by his wife Helen; children Barbara (Fred) Reid of Webberville, Joseph (Barbara) of Port Townsend, Wash., and Robert (Susan) of Commerce Twp.; grandchildren Jeffrey, Laura, Hanna, Jessica, and Ryan; great-grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, and Olivia; and sister Alyne Kneir of Kalamazoo.
He was preceded in death by his sister Alma Morgan and brothers Thomas and Paul.
A memorial gathering will begin at 1:00 PM Friday at Scenic Golf and Country Club in Pigeon.
Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville is handling the arrangements.
