Joyce L. Colford

Joyce L. Colford of Caro, age 85, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Brian's House in Essexville. Joyce was born January 31, 1934 in Pontiac, the daughter of the late Richard & Wanita (Anderson) Cooke and was raised in Auburn Heights. She was united in marriage with Raymond Colford on July15, 1967 in Pontiac, and he survives. Joyce received her childcare certification from UCLA and ran a daycare from her home for over ten years. God was always foremost in her life and she was a faithful member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Caro. In her spare time, Joyce could often be found playing piano, singing, knitting, sewing, or solving word search puzzles. She loved angels and teddy bears and had an extensive collection of both. She also enjoyed visiting garage sales and was good at finding a bargain. Joyce always had a smile on her face and showed her deep love of others with her infamous hugs. Her gentle soul will be missed by all that knew her. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Ray Colford of Caro; three children and their spouses, Mark & Belinda Young of Tennessee, Carol & Jeffrey Wong of Davison, Dale & Christy Colford of Pennsylvania; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren with another soon to arrive; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by two sons, Joel Colford and Van Young; two grandchildren, Jacob and Nicole Young; daughter-in-law, Leita Young; brother, Larry Cooke; and sister, Dorothy Lyle. In keeping with Joyce's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Wester officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:00 p.m. Burial will follow at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
