Joyce E. Deering, 77, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 at United Hospice Residence in Marlette.
Joyce was born September 25, 1943 in Pigeon to the late Orie and Ruth (Rook) Christner. She graduated from Laker High School in 1961. She attended business college in Bay City. On June 25, 1966 she married Richard Deering at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church - Berne.
With her husband she owned Ivanhoe Country Market in addition to raising her five children. She was a longtime and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran in Elkton. She will be remembered for her crocheting, baking and cooking and sense of humor.
She is survived by her husband Richard; children Scott (Jennifer) of Westland, Kathy (Allen) Dobbs of Alabama, Rick of Bad Axe, Randy of Bad Axe, Phyllis (Dan) Baranski of Elkton; grandchildren Jacob, Jenna, Lane, Lake, Lynn, Levi, Lee, Shayna, Alexis, Ashley, and Aaron. She was preceded in death by her brothers Harley, Gary and Dennis Christner and sister Shirley McGee.
Private funeral services will be on Saturday, March 13th at Champagne Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Neuman of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church - Berne officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Visitation will be 4-7 Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon.
