Joyce Patterson

Joyce Patterson, age 63, of Mayville, formerly of Florida, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. Joyce Wheaton was born on May 27, 1945 in Tuscola County, Michigan to the late Melvin Wheaton and Estella (Putman) Wheaton Parker. Joyce Wheaton graduated from high school, and on December 9, 1969 she was united in marriage to Gene E. Patterson, Sr. at the Juniata Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1998. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Joyce had been employed as a factory worker for some time, most recently at Deckerville Plastics. She enjoyed attending the Eagles with her mother, bowling, word searches, bingo, reading westerns, and fishing. She is survived by nine children, Kimberly (John) Bigger of Applegate, Wayne (Catrina) Simmons of Pigeon, Denise Simmons of Jacksonville, Florida, Doreen (Benny) Reese of Bad Axe, Lester Simmons of Caro, Patricia (Jim) Drake of Crystal River, Florida, Gene (Tabatha) Patterson of Mayville, Regina Miller of Detroit and William (Courtney) Patterson of Flint; 30+ grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; her siblings, Edith (Clifford) Ruppert of Caro, Doris (Larry) Miner of Kingston and Debra (Ed) Lusher of Caro; as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Patelski officiating. Burial will be in the Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to charity of the donors choice.
