Joyce Lea Wood

Joyce Lea Wood of Kingston, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Covenant - Cooper in Saginaw. Joyce was born August 23, 1938 in Caro, the daughter of the late Clare and Mildred (Taylor) Stone. She grew up in Watrousville and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1956. Joyce started working for Standard Oil Company in 1964, went on to be a clerk for Caro Farm Service, Sohigro, and Terra. She retired from Pigeon Co-op out of Fairgrove, where she was known to occasionally boss the men. Joyce was a member of the women of the Moose, attended Watrousville United Methodist Church, and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed horse racing, playing bingo, gardening, and feeding the birds - but hated those pesky squirrels. Joyce was an avid bowler and bowled in many tournaments over the years at Brentwood. Above all else, Joyce loved her family and watching her grandchildren grow up. They were the lights of her life, and she always made sure to make it to their home games. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Keith (Jane) Wood and Kenneth Wood; grandchildren, Wendy (James Jr.) Bodeis and their children, Danielle (Triston) Warner, James Daniel Bodeis III, & Justin Bodeis, Will (Kaila) Wood and their children, Miller, Parker, Cooper, & Harper Wood, Ashly (Seth Beitel) Wood and their children, Ayden Ehlfeldt & Grayson Beitel, Katie (Ryan) Schumacher and their children, Laurence Joseph Schumacher III & MaryEllen Jane Schumacher, Kyle (Carrie Edwards) Wood and his son, Edison Wood, Kelly Wood and her son, Asher Nankervis, and Kory Wood; great-great-granddaughter, Emelia Louise Warner; nieces, Diane Swank and June Murray; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her lifelong friend and companion, Howdy Putnam, and sisters, Shirley Warren and Carol Stone-Peak. A memorial ceremony will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Watrousville United Methodist Church with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Inurnment will follow at Wahjamega Cemetery. Joyce's family will be present to receive visitors at church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
