Judith “Judy” Kay Dunton of Caro, age 84, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. Judy was born on April 10, 1942, to the late August and Ella (Pollak) Miklovic and was the valedictorian of the Caro High School Class of 1959. She married Arlan Baker and the couple was blessed with two beautiful children that were the world to her. He preceded her in death. Judy worked for the Shopper’s Advantage and Tuscola County Probate Court as a stenographer before finding a fulfilling career as the executive secretary of the Tuscola County Road Commission. It was during her time with the road commission that she met Kenneth “Ken” Dunton, Sr., and the pair would soon hit it off. They married in 1990 and Judy was further blessed with the love of Ken’s children who treated her like a second mother. Ken survives her.
Judy stayed active and engaged in her community throughout her entire life. She was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro where she taught Sunday School and was known to greet new residents as they moved into town, welcoming them to Caro with her warmth and compassion. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the secretary of the Caro Community Hospital Endowment Foundation, secretary of the Friends of the Caro Library association. Judy showed her love of animals by visiting and volunteering with the Tuscola County Animal Shelter and spent her free time golfing and playing Euchre with her many friends.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of over 36 years, Ken; children, Teri Baker (Jeff Zoellner) and Tim (Jennifer) Baker, and Ken (Jennifer) Dunton, Jr.; grandchildren, Zoey Baker, Charles Dunton, Garrett Remze, Rhiannon Langel and Rachel Collier; and sister-in-law, Carole Miklovic; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by brother, Jody Miklovic; and daughter, Rose Dunton.
In accordance with Judy’s wishes, cremation is to take place. A memorial gathering celebrating Judy’s life is planned for a date later in the summer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tuscola County Animal Shelter. The family was assisted with these arrangements by the Ransford Funeral Home - Caro.
