Julia Muska

Julia Muska of Fountain, formerly of Caro, age 95, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at her granddaughter's home in Fountain. The former Julia Szaki was born January 8, 1918 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph and Katalin (Ordog) Szaki, and moved to Michigan with her family at a very young age. She was united in marriage with Samuel Muska on June 4, 1938 at the First Baptist Church in Caro. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1999. Julia was a wonderful homemaker and loved to be with her family and outside working in her gardens. She was also an avid prayer warrior and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Caro. During her lifetime Julia held many jobs and was very proud to have been a Rosie the Riveter and to have worked on the family farm. Julia is survived by one daughter, Marion Romain and her husband, Tom, of Caro; six grandchildren, Sally and Tim Sheridan of Reese, Mark Barrick of Richville, Julie and Scott Davis of Fountain, Lisa Jaynes of Branch, Gregory Jaynes and Crystal James of Ludington and Dorlean Muska of California; several great-grandchildren; her siblings, Katie Kosto and Theresa Weinlander. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel; one son, David Samuel Muska; one daughter, Sylvia Muska Barrick, and the remainder of her siblings, Mary Szaki, Rose Ando, Joseph Szerda, Gazella Muska, Irene Vaughan, Elizabeth Kovacs and Helen Koprince. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Caro with Rev. Marc Herron officiating. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Muska Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Marion Romain, 205 W.
