Julia Hope Voelker

December 4, 1989 — January 12, 2013

Julia Hope Voelker, 23 of Pigeon, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at home surrounded by her family.
Born at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon on December 4, 1989, she was the daughter of Eldon and Peggy (Hunsanger) Voelker. Julia graduated from Laker High School in 2008, and Grand Valley State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies. She had been studying for the LSAT in preparation for attending Law School.
While in high school, Julia was active with FFA and was 2008-2009 state officer of Michigan FFA. She was active with Youth for Christ as a member of the Cornerstone singing group.
Julia always placed others before herself. She enjoyed and was dedicated to serving her Lord Jesus by traveling on mission trips-to Mexico, Columbus, Ohio, and Ethiopia.
Julia was a member of Pigeon River Mennonite Church. She loved worshipping God, especially through music. She sang a lot of worship music with her friends and family; she loved to share music with her parents. She dearly loved her family and spent as much time as she could with them all. She was a dedicated Detroit Lions fan.
Julia is survived by her parents, Eldon and Peggy Voelker of Pigeon; her brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Jess Voelker of Kalamazoo; two sisters and brother-in-law, Angela and David Biedenbender of Ann Arbor and Renee Voelker of Jackson and Renee's significant other, Brandon Miller of Cass City; her grandmother, Deloris Hunsanger of Ruth; her grandfather, Donald Voelker of Iowa; nephews and niece, Owen, Landon, and Hailey Hope; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Viola Voelker and grandfather, Ben Hunsanger.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Pigeon River Mennonite Church, with Rev. Alvin Yoder officiating. Burial will follow at Grandlawn Cemetery, Pigeon.
Memorials may be made to Pigeon River Church Mission Outreach or Laker FFA.
