Justine Victoria Burgess

Justine V. “Tina” Burgess, age 95, formerly of Caseville, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Sunny Acres Nursing Center outside Bad Axe after a long illness.

Tina was born September 26, 1913 in Kansas City, Kansas to the late Anton and Lena (Pavlich) Troha. On September 8, 1934 she married Robert Burgess in Detroit. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1987.

Until 1975 Tina lived in Detroit, then she and her husband moved to Oklahoma. After retiring they moved to Caseville in 1986 where she enjoyed being active at St. Roch Catholic Church. She had been a resident of Sunny Acres for the past 6 years as her memory began to fail.

Surviving are her grandchildren Robert Burgess of Hamburg, Laura Russ and Gary Burgess of Madison Heights, and Tina Fieser of Wisconsin; 7 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (Velma) Mance.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, son Robert, and granddaughter Debbie.

A funeral mass will be at 1:00 PM Thursday at St. Roch Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth Yaroch presiding. Burial will be in St. Roch Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville.
