Karen K. Long, age 67, of Sebewaing, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City. Karen was born March 31, 1946 in Owendale to Harry and Jane (Daniels) Yanke.
Karen enjoyed cooking, reading and baking. She is a 1964 graduate of Owendale-Gagetown Area Schools. She worked at Crow's Restaurant, Coal Mine Corners Restaurant, The Old Heidelburg Inn, Dutch Kettel, Truember Catering, Bay Shore Camp, and retired from USA High School as their cook.
She is survived by her two daughters: Christine (Randy) Nitz and Barb (Joe) Crowder; her mother, Jane Yanke; her loving grandchildren: Ashley (Jared) Bills, Zachary Nitz, McKenzie Crowder and Skylynn Crowder; her dear brother, Craig (Lori) Yanke; niece and nephew, Tyler Yanke and Brandie Yanke; and her special friend, Mary Ann Szpunar.
She is preceded in death by her father, Harry Yanke, and her infant grandson, Bradley Nitz.
A memorial visitation will take place Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 3-9pm.
The memorial service will be Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial of her cremains will take place at New Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing at a later date.
Memorial donations may be given to the family.
