Karen Marie Romain

Karen Marie Romain of Caro, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Tuscola County Medical Care Community with her family by her side. Karen was born August 4, 1941 in Caro, the daughter of the late Charles and Bonnie (Blausius) Gilkey and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1959. Following high school, she worked at the Janks Clothing Store in Caro, where she loved putting together the window displays. After raising her children, Karen went on to cook for Caro Community Schools, retiring after twenty-three dedicated years. She was a lifelong member of the Caro Moose Lodge and the Caro United Methodist Church. Karen was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, the University of Michigan, and the Detroit Lions, no matter how many times they lost. She enjoyed painting and was always there for her children and grandchildren. Karen’s loving and selfless memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Karen leaves to cherish her memory, her children and their spouses, Kimberly & Mark Radisovich, Lisa & Rick Ozbat, and Brett & Tammy Romain; grandchildren, Nickole (Matt), Christopher (Vanessa), Andrew (Kristy), Dillon, Ryan (Lindsay), and Madison (Christian); great-grandchildren, Emma, Annalea, Nicholas, Michael, Nolan, and Lydia Rose; siblings, Debbie (Jim) Miller, Patricia Parsell, Chuck (Mardi) Gilkey, Dennis (Chris) Gilkey, and Rod (Cathy) Gilkey; many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Perez, Jr. and brother-in-law, James Parsell.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Karen’s family will be present to receive visitors on Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
