Karen Kay Weisenbach

Karen Kay Weisenbach, age 75, of Owendale, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, January 21, 2024 at her home.

Karen was born on April 20, 1948 at the Unionville Hospital to Lyle and Alice (Fritz) Faber. She was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church (Bach) and confirmed on May 2, 1962. Karen graduated in 1966 from Sebewaing High School and worked in Cass City and at Lamplighter in Sebewaing. She also enjoyed hoeing sugar beets and beans for many area farmers. On November 2, 1968, she married Donald Weisenbach, Sr. and were blessed with 3 children.

Karen was a very active church member, being a Sunday School Supt. and teaching Sunday School for 17 years, was the church janitor from 1984 until 2021, church treasurer for 24 years, member of the Ladies Aid and choir. She helped at the church bazaars and funerals, and also canning produce from her garden, sewing for her daughters, cross stitching, knitting, setting puzzles, dancing and listening to the 60's oldies. She also made Christmas booklets from used Christmas cards which were distributed to the shut-ins and those in nursing homes.

Surviving her are her husband, Donald Weisenbach, Sr.; children: Donald Weisenbach, Jr. (Wendy Weisenbach), Melissa (Chris) Miller and Jodi Kent; grandchildren: Alisson Jahr, Justin, Kyle, Isaac and Sierra Miller; siblings: Jean Fisher, Rosella Naffien, Joyce Haley; sister-in-law, Rose Faber; and many nieces and nephews.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Alice Faber; and brother, Harley Faber.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.

The funeral service will be Thursday, January 25, 2024 at St. Peter Lutheran Church (Bach). Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the service at 11am. Pastor Thom Garrison will be officiating and Sandy Marxhausen will be the organist. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church or St. Peter Lutheran Church (Altar Guild).
