Karin Elizabeth Kose-Shell, age 58, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro, following a period of declining health. She was born July 12, 1953 in Wyandotte, the eldest of ten children born to the late John and Elizabeth (McCarthy) Kose. She graduated from Gabriel Reshard High School in Southgate and later received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Seina Heights University in Adrian. Karin worked as a teachers assistant until her muscular dystrophy progressed. She then became employed in a program for the disabled where she met John Shell. They lived in Deford for eight years until she was diagnosed with cancer, which led the couple to move to the Caro Senior Commons. Karin and John entered into a relegious union on December 1, 1998. Karin was a Shakespeare fan, and enjoyed going to Stratford, Ontario. She was also a soprano and loved music. Karin is survived by her husband, John Shell of Caro; five sisters, four brothers and their spouses, Maureen Moomey of Sylvania, Ohio, John Kose of Carlton, Phyllis & Jeffery Dahlstrom of Wyandotte, Bridget & Ike Knox of Milton, Darlene Kose of Knoxville, Tennessee, Kevin & Shelly Kose of Minot, North Dakota, Doreen & Robert Wise of Charlevoix, Keith & Cheryl Kose of Beaverton, Oregon, Bryant Kose of Wyandotte; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility for their constant compassion and care.
