Katharine L. Maynard age 61, of Bad Axe died Thursday evening, September 4, at McLaren Bay Region after suffering a major heart attack earlier in the week.

She was born December 6, 1952 in Pigeon to Thomas and Donna (Elsesser) Hendrick. Kathy grew up in Owendale and graduated from Owendale High School in 1971.

She remained in Owendale until 1996 when she moved to Bad Axe.
Kathy was a garage saler and enjoyed hunting down bargains and saving collectables. She loved to cook and bake for her family and others and was known for the soft heart she had for small animals.

Surviving are her children, Jeremy Maurer of Bad Axe and Jennifer Maynard of Niles; four grandchildren, Morgan, Caleb, Emily and Sean; her father, Thomas Hendrick and siblings, Peggy (Willard) Gross of Chandler Twp., Cindy (Mark) McLeod of Port Austin, Dora (Dave Fitzgerald) Madziar of Saginaw, Doreen (Earl) Harris of Owendale and David (Andrea) Gunsell of Akron.
Preceding her in death were two sons, Jason and John Maurer and her mother, Donna Gunsell.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM Monday, September 8, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton where friends may call from noon until the time of services Monday.
Elder Karen Bouverette, staff chaplain will officiate with burial in Grant Twp. Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the family.
