Katherine Flesch

Katherine Flesch, formerly of Caro, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Martha T. Berry Medical Care Facility in Mt. Clemens. Katherine was born April 13, 1922 in Bad Axe, the daughter of the late Simon and Helen Stec. She was united in marriage with Ernest Flesch on September 1, 1973 in Dearborn, and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1996. Katherine was a member of St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church, and the VFW Auxiliary. Katherine was a very feisty lady who enjoyed taking care of people. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. Katherine is survived by one daughter, Camille Sponkowski; two grandchildren, Lynda Senclair and Rob Sponkowski; four great-grandchildren, Tucker, Alex, Kendra and Riley. Katherine was from a family of thirteen siblings of which three survive, Sophie, John and Mike; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Wright; son-in-law, Robert Sponkowski; granddaughter, Lorrie Sponkowski; five sisters and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro with Rev. Jerzy Dobosz officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Easter Seals, who have assisted the family members in so many ways.
