Kathleen "Dawn" Bondarenko of Akron, age 83, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Spectrum Health in Big Rapids. Dawn was born May 15, 1936 in Ortonville, the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Dowling) Dakin. On February 12, 1957, the former Dawn Dakin was united in marriage with Paul Bondarenko at the Wisner Methodist Church with her father officiating. Dawn was a homemaker while her children were at home. When their son, Gary, started kindergarten she began teaching at Akron-Fairgrove schools and continued on as a teacher's aide. She was a life member of Farm Bureau and the Wisner United Methodist Church where she spent a great deal of her time along with the church camp. Dawn enjoyed crafts with her students and grandchildren, garage sales, traveling to visit family and friends, camping, being near the water, animals, especially dogs, and most importantly, spending time with grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Paul Bondarenko; two sons and their spouses, Wayne & Mary Bondarenko of Jackson, Gary & Lisa Bondarenko of Stanwood; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Danielle, Andrew, Sandra and Alan; two great-grandchildren, Jenna and Joleigh; siblings and spouses, Faith Anderson of Winter Haven, Florida, Hope & Ron Thompson of Eaton Rapids, Harold, Jr. and Dawn Dakin of Woodstock, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019 at the Wisner United Methodist Church with Rev. Evan Oh officiating. Burial will follow at Demorest Cemetery in Akron. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Northland United Methodist Church Camp Youth Scholarships, P.O.
