Kathleen Davis

Kathleen “Kitty” Davis, age 85, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at McLaren-Bay Region in Bay City, following a lingering illness. She was born June 16, 1927 in London, England, the daughter of the late Frederick & Mildred (Rees) Harrington. In 1946, Kitty came to Michigan from Wales with her daughter Rosemary and infant son. Kitty spent her working years caring for people as a Registered Nurse at St. Marys Hospital in Saginaw, Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe and later as a home health care nurse in Akron. She was united in marriage with Robert T. Davis on December 16, 1973 in Frankenmuth, and Kitty moved from her Saginaw home to Akron. She found great joy living in the country, where she had a large garden and animal farm. She also enjoyed growing flowers and canning. Kitty will be remembered as a beautiful and happy person with a love for people that was infectious. She took in countless foster children over the years, and was awarded the Foster Care of the Year Award for her exemplary compassion to those in need. Kitty is survived by two daughters, Rosemary Cleland and her husband, Dave, of Riddle, Oregon, Mary Ellen Davis of Caro; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special friends and caregivers, Sharon, Leah and David. She was preceded in death by three sons and one daughter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Dorothy Thon officiating. Burial will follow at the Demorest Cemetery in Akron. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Rendons Young at Heart AFC Home, and those that sent food, cards and shared special prayers with Kitty.
