Kathleen Agnes Emery, age 76, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family. Kathy was born November 24, 1948 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Helen (Zakalata) Kubiak. Kathy graduated from Laker High School with the class of 1966. She married the love of her life, William L. Emery, on September 9, 1967 and they shared more than fifty-seven years of love, laughter, and family. A devoted wife and mother, Kathy dedicated her early years to creating a loving home and nurturing a strong foundation for her children as a stay-at-home mother. Once her youngest began school, she turned her focus to serving her community. She became the Director of the Manton Senior Center, contributed her time and talents at the Second Chance Resale Shop in Cadillac, and later worked at the Sebewaing Senior Center, where her kindness and vibrant energy touched the lives of many. Kathy was a faithful member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Campus. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, solving puzzles, reading, and tending her garden, where she lovingly watched her tomatoes and cucumbers grow. Her generosity knew no bounds and Kathy was a friend to all; she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Above all, Kathy cherished time with her family and spoiling her beloved grandchildren.
Kathy leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Bill; four children and their spouses, Billy & Danine Emery, Eric & Shelley Emery, Jennifer & Bryan Arnold, and Tricia & Mick Shadoian; sixteen grandchildren; four brothers, Mike, Sylvester & Cheri, Patrick, and Daniel Kubiak. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Angela; and one sister, Jean Downing.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro with Rev. Isaac Madanu will officiating.
