Kathleen V. “Kay” Walker, age 96, of Sebewaing and Elkton, died Monday morning, February 27, at Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care Unit.
She was born May 30, 1909, in St. Clair Heights, to the late Joseph and Margaret (Newberry) McDonough.
On January 30, 1928, she was united in marriage to Philip K. Walker at Holy Name Catholic Church, Birmingham. They moved to Elkton in 1946, from Berkley when Phil bought a milk route. They lived in Elkton until 1990, when they moved to Caro. Phil died June 2, 1995, and a short time later she moved to Sebewaing nearer her daughter.
Kay had been a long time member of St. Francis Catholic Church and Altar Society, Pigeon and the Elkton Women’s Study Club.
Surviving are six children, Jerry (Nancy) Walker of Harbor Springs, Jim (Dolores) Walker of Imlay City, Mick (Jackie) Walker of Frankenmuth, Linda (Bob) Rittenger of Palm Springs, CA, Kay (Jim) Eisengruber of Sebewaing and Mary (Bernie) Nelson of Caro. Also surviving are 25 Grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. A brother and three sisters preceded her in death.
A funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Sebewaing. Rev. Fr. John Weis, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton. Friends may call at the church after 9:30 AM Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen or Scheurer Long Term Care.
