Kathryn Carson, age 94, of Bay City, formerly of Caro, passed away on July 4, 2009 at The Carriage House of Bay City. Kathryn was born on September 27, 1914 in Pensacola, Florida to the late Wendelin and Teresa (Keller) Kamrad. As a young child, Kathryns family moved to Ohio and eventually to rural Gagetown. The former Kathryn Kamrad married Edward Hessler and then Joseph Carson, both of whom preceded her in death. She and her second husband owned and operated the Hotel in Port Hope. Upon retiring, they moved to East Tawas and on to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. After the death of Mr. Carson, she moved to Caro where she lived until her health declined. While in Florida, Kathryn volunteered with the Salvation Army in their thrift shops, and upon moving to Caro was a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and their ladies activities, including manning the Bethesda Thrift Shop in Saginaw. She enjoyed her family and playing bingo. She is survived by her three sons, Gerald (Carolyn) Hessler of Bay City, Merton Hessler of Sachse, Texas and Gary (Deborah) Hessler of Clinton Township; twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; her sister, Annie Ramig of Auburn Hills; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sandra Hessler; and the remainder of her siblings, Joseph, Steve, Evelyn and Eva. The memorial service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Cameron Steele officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Plymouth, Michigan. There will be no visitation at the Collon Funeral Home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
