Kathryn Anne Kucyk

Kathryn Anne Kucyk of Caro, age 70, went to be with her beloved husband, David, in a much better place on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro, following a courageous fight against cancer. Kathy was born March 10, 1948 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Jack and Eileen (Shea) Glide. She worked for the Detroit News for many years, driving up to the Thumb area to drop papers at convenience stores and gas stations along the way. Her son, Jeffrey, rode along to keep mom company. Kathy's father was a prisoner of war and her brother, Thomas, wrote the book titled "Fortresses, An Airman's Story of Survival" about him and dedicated it to Kathy. Kathy truly loved her dogs, Maverick and Gracie, and leaves them to continue their diligent watch over Jeffrey. Kathy was a devout Catholic and was generous at heart, helping others when she saw a need she could fill. Kathy is survived by two sons, Jimmy Kucyk of Clinton Township, and Jeffrey Kucyk at home with his caregiver; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Helen Glide; sister, Nancy Glide; mother-in-law, Irene Kucyk; sister-in-law, Shirley Glide; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pam and Will Ouellette, Laurie and Ed Smith, Douglas and Mercedes Kucyk; and several loved nieces and nephews. Also, special mention should be made of very good friends, Brenda Quinn, Richard Quinn, and their father, Richard Quinn, as well as a big thank you to Kathy Riccardi (Kathy Mom), close friend and caregiver to Kathy and Jeffrey. In addition to her parents and husband, David Edwin Kucyk, Kathy was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and John Michael Glide; father-in-law, Edwin Kucyk; and many other family and friends. In keeping with Kathy's wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest with her husband, David, at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township later this year. A prayer service will be held at that time. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions payable to Jeffrey Kucyk to assist in his ongoing care.
