Kathy Marion Volz

Kathy Marion Volz, a.k.a. The Kilmanagh Poet, a lifelong member of Huron County, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, surrounded by the beauty she always found in everyday life. Born to the late Mardell and Donald Volz on December 29, 1966, she lived a life in her own wonderfully unique way. She found joy in strong coffee, discovering new coffee shops, baking creative treats, and driving around in her pickup with music playing loud, especially the Killers and KISS.

She had a deep love for poetry, practiced Reiki, and cared deeply for her beloved barn cats. Kathy will be remembered for her quirky spirit, quiet kindness, and ability to make ordinary moments feel special. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

In honor of Kathy, loved ones are encouraged to share a cup of strong coffee, play their favorite music loudly, care for an animal in need, or pause to notice the beauty hidden in ordinary places just as she always did.

A funeral service for Kathy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Ransford Funeral Home – Sebewaing, 538 South Beck Street, with Pastor Thom Garrison presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, with burial to follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. In honoring Kathy’s wishes, the family asks that any who would like to make a memorial contribution do so to a charity of their choosing.
