On August 7, 2024, we said goodbye to our beloved Katrina “Katie” Skelton, who passed away surrounded by close friends after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. Her journey included fifty rounds of chemotherapy, forty-eight rounds of radiation, and five surgeries. Katie was born to Roger Brock and Mary Wood on October 19, 1973, in Caro, Michigan.
Katie married her loving husband, Luke Skelton, on July 23, 2012. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Devyn and LJ Skelton, and were blessed with four grandchildren. She also welcomed her daughter-in-law, Sammi Skelton, with open arms.
A proud graduate of Caro High School, Class of 1991, Katie continued her education at Davenport University. She enjoyed her time at Country Carriage Floral, building flower arrangements for the community. She spent most of her professional life as an office manager at Muffler Man until she was forced out of work due to her fight in 2017.
Katie was deeply committed to her community, actively participating in Relay for Life and constantly donating things to the people around her. Her passion extended to crafting, with skills in sewing, vinyl work, sublimation, and more.
Katie will be remembered for her infectious smile, kind heart, brave soul, unwavering strength, and most importantly, her sharp mouth.
A memorial service will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Caro Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Katie knew it takes a village to raise a kid, and thankfully, she had her “cavalry” behind her through it all that she left to her daughter. In honor of Katie’s wishes, we ask her “cavalry” to refrain from sending flowers. Instead, please donate to Devyn’s college fund; a collection box for cash/check donations will be available at the service. Please make out all checks to Devyn Skelton.
