Kaye Ellen Whalen

Kaye Ellen Whalen of Caro, age 76, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw, following a brief illness. Kaye was born June 23, 1939 in Caro, the daughter of the late Edward & June (Ayre) Whalen and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1957. She attended Saginaw Business College and retired from Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City as a medical transcriptionist after more than ten years of service. She also provided home health care for several years, an occupation she loved because of the interaction with people it provided. Kaye was an avid card player, fiercely competitive, but fun to play with. Time with friends was often spent playing Bridge, Pinochle and Euchre. She possessed a profound wealth of information, and a deep historical understanding of Egypt and her hometown of Caro. To be with Kaye was an adventure and she had a way of bringing out the fun side of those she knew. She possessed an ageless sense of style and loved antiquing. Kaye is survived by her son, Jeff Romain of Caro; two granddaughters, Lindsey Romain of Chicago, Illinois, Elizabeth Romain of Grand Rapids; four siblings, Sharon Ruf of Mustang, Oklahoma, Lynda Whalen of Auburn Hills, Patrick Whalen of Marysville, Tennessee, Nancy Jones of Saginaw; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Kaye's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Caro with Rev. Michael Wester officiating.
