Kazimierz "Kaz" Kontnik

Kazimierz Kontnik of Caro, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw, following years of failing health. He was born March 31, 1934 in Poland, the son of the late Andrew and Kathrine (Kutila) Kontnik. While living in Poland, he worked as a blacksmith and building diesel engines. Upon coming to the United States, he was employed with Brooks & Perkins, Caro Manufacturing, and was a lifelong farmer. Kaz was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and working with wood and metal. He is survived by two sisters, Frances and Sister Josephine Kontnik of Resurrection Sisters, both of Poland; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Kontnik; and three sisters, Hellena Lucka, Mary Habdas and Rosie. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro with Rev. John Ladd officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. There will be a Rosary Service at the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Kontnik Family Discretionary Fund.
