Kelly Jo (Champagne) Kube

Kelly Jo (Champagne) Kube of Bad Axe, age 52, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer that lasted nearly five years. She was born on January 19, 1974, in Pigeon, the daughter of James and Peggy (Thompson) Champagne. Kelly graduated from Laker High School with the Class of 1992 and went on to earn her degree in accounting from Davenport University.

Throughout her career, Kelly held several accounting positions, including at Gettel’s Accounting and later at Thumb Tool & Engineering, where she worked in the accounting department until 2005. It was there that she met the love of her life, Brian Kube. The two were married on September 23, 2003, in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Together, Brian and Kelly owned and operated B&K Sales & Online Auctions from 2012 until 2020. Kelly managed the office and helped wherever she was needed.

Kelly enjoyed going on fall color tours and taking trips up north to the Kube family cottage. She loved spending time with her family, dogs, and grandpup. Kelly liked to stay busy and was always willing to try something new, even trying her hand at knitting. She was caring, kindhearted, and above all, generous and always willing to help others.

Kelly had a strong passion for helping those in need and dedicated many hours to advocating for suicide prevention. Following her cancer diagnosis, she became involved with BCups and other cancer organizations, making donations and helping raise awareness. Even throughout her own battle, and on days when she wasn't feeling her best, Kelly continued to look for ways to help others. She will always be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the care she showed to those around her.

Kelly leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of twenty-three years, Brian Kube; their children and the lights of her life, Baron Kube and Katelyn Kube; her parents, James and Peggy Champagne; mother-in-law, Barbara Kube; sister, Michelle (Peter) McArdle; sister-in-law, Kimberly Herrington (Steve); nieces and nephews, Haley McArdle, Erin (Nick) Trost, James McArdle, and Zachary McArdle; Uncle and Aunt, Todd and Mary Thompson and their children, Kyle and Ashton; she will be truly missed by her canine companions Bogey and Kaiser and her grandpup, Nala. Kelly was preceded in death by her sister, Jamie Champagne; father-in-law, Dr. Kenneth Kube; grandparents, Cletus Champagne, Dolores Champagne, Vern Thompson, Lucille Thompson, and Kenneth Schember.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kelly’s friends, family, doctors, and nurses for their continued care, encouragement, and positive support throughout her courageous battle with cancer. Your kindness and support meant so much to Kelly and her family.

Kelly’s funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ransford Funeral Home in Pigeon. Rev. Karen Bouverette will officiate with the burial following at Colfax Twp.
