Kenneth T. Miller

Kenneth Thornton Miller, 94 of Caseville, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Born in Winsor Township on July 26, 1918, he was the son of the late George and Lillian (Haist) Miller. He attended Winsor School for three years. His family moved to Saginaw, and he graduated in 1936 from Arthur Hill High School, and attended General Motors Tech. He served during World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps for 1½ years in India and Burma, and was discharged in 1946 as a Sergeant. On October 26, 1940 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Ruby Wiltse in Saginaw. She preceded him in death on February 11, 1983.
Kenneth was an electronics engineer. He worked for more than 30 years at Eaton Corporation in Saginaw, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Caseville United Methodist Church.
As a youngster, Kenneth often rode a pony to school. On the way home one day, he fell off and was knocked unconscious. They found him only because the pony had stayed with him. He had many close-calls with death: while flying a loaded fuel aircraft to China, he crash landed in Burma; he had a serious auto accident; he suffered a ruptured appendix; he had gall bladder rupture; and he suffered an industrial accident in a furnace explosion at Eaton.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna Lee and Thomas M. Mansfield of Traverse City; daughter-in-law, Becky Miller; five grandchildren: Aaron (Lori) Mansfield, Abigail (Aaron) Shier, Amber Mansfield (boyfriend Steve Yarber), Brice (Teresa) Miller, and Gabe (Amanda) Miller; eight great-grandchildren: Cameron, Boden, Lincoln, Olivia, Ethan, Sophia, Finn, and August; He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas G. and an infant brother.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, with Retired Pastor Tom Mansfield and Mr. Gus Garman officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.
Memorials may be made to Caseville United Methodist Church or Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon.
