Kenneth P. Nevin, 81, of Caseville, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, April 17, 2017 at home under hospice care.
Ken was born September 3, 1935 in Detroit to the late Sherman and Eleanor (Moore) Nevin. At age 12 he started roller skating at the old Eastwood Park in East Detroit. He continued skating and eventually began teaching skating at Mt. Clemens Arena, while owning and operating a beauty salon in Grosse Pointe. In 1972 he and his wife Joanne founded Caseville Roller Skating Arena, moving their family to Caseville. Ken enjoyed the roller rink, having fun with young and old. It was a new adventure; living by the water, going to the beach all day and skating at night, having family together most of the time. In 2002 they sold the rink and retired. They remained in Caseville, spent time traveling and wintered in Florida. He was a member of the Caseville Eagles Club.
He is survived by his children Kimberly (Jeff) Meyer of Belleville, Keith of Clawson, Kristin (Jon) Case of Alma and Kari Jo (Norman) Brook of Royal Oak; son-in-law Cyril Sieveke of Bay City; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Joanne on February 9, 2013; his parents; and step-children Richard Couto, Lynnette Sieveke and Brenda Woodruff.
