Kenneth Paul Volz

Kenneth Paul Volz, age 78, of Sebewaing, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Medallion Village in Sebewaing.

Ken was born May 22, 1939, in Sebewaing, to Paul and Florence (Roemer) Volz. At the age of 13, he contracted the polio virus. Even with his disease, he held strong to his faith and vibrance for life. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University. He taught and subbed for schools for 12 years, sold bicycles for 41 years, did vacuum repair, lawn care service for over 10 years, did pest control and had a paper route for 10 years. He was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, served on the Stewardship Board and sang in the choir. He was a lifetime member of the National Trappers Association and trapped for over 50 years. He was a volunteer for the United Way and served as treasurer for 10 years. He was also a member of the JC's, Lion's Club, Meals on Wheels for 5 years, and was a volunteer driver for social services. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and boating. He enjoyed meeting new people.

Ken is survived by 2 sisters: Margaret Dembowski of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Bernette (Ken) Adams of St. Charles, Michigan; half-sister, Janis (Dennis) Pardeik of Flushing, Michigan; 8 nieces; 4 nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, July 24, 2017, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home from 3-9pm.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Rev. Charles Kuhl will be officiating.

Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to Christ the King Lutheran School (CTK) or Michigan United Conservation Clubs (Kids Camp).
